چکیده

In this paper we study the page number of upward planar directed acyclic graphs. We prove that: (1) the page number of any n-vertex upward planar triangulation G whose every maximal 4-connected component has page number k is at most min{O(k logn), O(2)}; (2) every upward planar triangulation G with o( n logn ) diameter has o(n) page number; and (3) every upward planar triangulation has a vertex ordering with o(n) page number if and only if every upward planar triangulation whose maximum degree is O( √ n) does. Classification of Planar Upward Embedding

We consider planar upward drawings of directed graphs on arbitrary surfaces where the upward direction is defined by a vector field. This generalizes earlier approaches using surfaces with a fixed embedding in R and introduces new classes of planar upward drawable graphs, where some of them even allow cycles. Our approach leads to a classification of planar upward embeddability. In particular, ...

Upward planar graphs and their duals

We consider upward planar drawings of directed graphs in the plane (UP), and on standing (SUP) and rolling cylinders (RUP). In the plane and on the standing cylinder the edge curves are monotonically increasing in y-direction. On the rolling cylinder they wind unidirectionally around the cylinder. There is a strict hierarchy of classes of upward planar graphs: UP ⊂ SUP ⊂ RUP. In this paper, we ...

Crossing-Optimal Acyclic Hamiltonian Path Completion and Its Application to Upward Topological Book Embeddings

Given an embedded planar acyclic digraph G, we define the problem of acyclic hamiltonian path completion with crossing minimization (Acyclic-HPCCM) to be the problem of determining a hamiltonian path completion set of edges such that, when these edges are embedded on G, they create the smallest possible number of edge crossings and turn G to an acyclic hamiltonian digraph. Our results include: ...

Upward Planarity Testing via SAT

A directed acyclic graph is upward planar if it allows a drawing without edge crossings where all edges are drawn as curves with monotonously increasing y-coordinates. The problem to decide whether a graph is upward planar or not is NP-complete in general, and while special graph classes are polynomial time solvable, there is not much known about solving the problem for general graphs in practi...
